Geneva, April 21, 2010 (WCM)
In May 2010, WomenChangeMakers is inviting leading social entrepreneurs for a 3-day workshop in Geneva, Switzerland to share their experiences and insights and to co-design our new fellowship program to implement and spread innovation in favor of women’s empowerment. Their strategic and pragmatic advice will consolidate WomenChangeMakers’ approach and action plan and serve as a departure point for our high-impact program.
"I believe that we can accelerate progress for women and fight against injustices and discriminations by enhancing a wide collaboration across continents and communities," says Yann Borgstedt, the founder of WomenChangeMakers. "We are gathering a number of successful social entrepreneurs to set the basis of our program in a spirit of sharing knowledge and building synergies. From there, we will get started in the field."
Among the invitees are Ms. Josephine Nzerem, Ms. Mary Yerrick and Ms. Chetna Gala Sinha. Ms. Nzerem, an Ashoka fellow who founded a citizen sector organization to protect women from disinheritance and other socio-economic abuses in Nigeria. Ms Yerrick is the co-founder of Vital Voices Global Partnership for which she managed several economic empowerment programs. Ms. Sinha has been empowering Indian women through asset creation, leadership development and capacity building programs since 1996.
The workshop participants will provide valuable grass-roots inputs on the keys to their success; the best forms of support they got and what was lacking; what will be the most effective way to support social entrepreneurs with transformative projects.
The outcomes of the workshop will be summarized in a report that will be made available to interested parties.
